Snoopy Dancing the day away...

I'm free!!! Thanks so much for the good wishes for the end of the quarter! Here are a few other snippets on projects that I worked on:

This is my photoshop final. It is a believably unbelievable composition. My idea is that we are seeing what the woman is thinking about while she is working on the peppers. We see her hopes and dreams, dreams lost, places she wants to see etc. The wedding cake is fading into the sea because she has given up on that dream but she still wants color, and fun, and parties, and other things in her life. She really would like to see snow... I had to work with the images I found. Some are pieced together from picture I had on my own and extracted from other pictures etc. Altogether there are 10 pictures combined here and a bunch of effects.

This is a brochure for my InDesign class that I made for a friend. I always have to work within the parameters of the assignment so there are things that I would do differently. I had to make two little graphics in the program and stick them somewhere (which I don't like) and I don't like the two color aspect for sure because food just doesn't look appetizing in blue... I'm going to make a real one for her in full color. I don't think it turned out too bad however for a first attempt at a brochure.

I finished my last class at 7pm last night. Because I'm a glutton for punishment, and I have yet to learn how to say no, I got home and baked 4 dozen Christmas cookies for a teacher cookie exchange at N's school AND finished off cutting out two preschool projects... well I had some help from my honey on the preschool projects... not completely without a little complaining however.

N goes to a private school so we pay tuition. In addition to tuition, you are expected to donate 30 hours of time (15 in preschool) per year and gather so much $$ in donations. Last year I was room parent so it was easy to meet our volunteer hours. Because I'm in school this year, it's darn near impossible to find volunteer opportunity time at the school so I'm left with cutting out preschool projects. Hubby is not so thrilled to be called upon to cut out mittens, and snowmen, and scarecrows and the like. We had a very long (and tiring at that point in the evening for me) conversation about this last night. Hubs was carrying on about our time being wasted etc. I tried to show him the altruism in helping out even if it wasn't a requirement. N's preschool teacher has three classes of 20 preschool aged kids. "She can't get all of their projects together herself...we should be happy to help." Well, that didn't convince him nor did anything else until I broke it down to dollars and cents for him:

me: "want to pay $750 dollars to the school?"
hubs: "no, why would I want to do that?"
me: "because that is the amount you pay if you would rather pay off your volunteer hours."
hubs: "wha?... hrumph..."
me: "get cutting bud."
hubs: "were so paying the $750 when you are working again"
me: "whatever"

Hubs sure didn't have his panties all in a wad last year when I was doing all of the volunteer hours. In his defense... I will say that he has picked up lots of the slack while I have been attending school and had just had his own tiring evening of watching the kiddo and going to swimming lessons, etc. He really is a peach. I just have to give him a hard time every once-in-a-while. Keeps things interesting.

Hi honey... if you are reading this...just know it is written with love. Thank you for helping me with the project last night!

Well, screw the teacher, color ME impressed. I remember how it was! And I didn't work when mine were little. There was ALWAYS crap to do and I spent many, many evenings with John cutting and gluing and coming up with new projects for them to do.
In retrospect... I wish I could do it all again. I know... that's just sick, hunh?;-)

I've been involved with my daughter's school activities since she started. She is now in 11th grade, and fully expects me to be around to help out. The added benefit is that I get to know her friends:)

That being said, I am SO burned out from all of these committees! One more year, and this mommy will be enjoying a little more free time! I don't know if that's a good thing, or a bad thing!!! Heehee!
