Connecting

One of the things I like about blogging is the potential for connecting with others and the community that can result from that. I have met some great people, learned new things, been entertained. It's also a great way to get a message out and to gather people for a cause or call to action.

I have a new link on my sidebar to check out below:

If you are one of the few people left who has not heard of Stephanie and Christian Nielson, (I know many of you already follow their story) then you must visit this site. They are an adorable couple with an adorable family that has been touched by tragedy. In August, Stephanie "Nie" and Mr. Nielson and a friend were in a horrible plane crash. Their friend tragically did not survive and the two of them were left fighting for their lives.

Thankfully, Christian is recovering and out of the hospital. His beautiful wife Stephanie has more serious burns and is still recovering. She appears to be out of the woods and on the path to healing and has been moved to another facility recently for therapy so that is great news!

I have been following their site for a few months and have been amazed by the overwhelming outflowing of support for them, not only from their church, but from people around the globe who have been touched by their story. From the link to their recovery site, you can find Stephanie's blog and pictures and stories from their life prior to the accident. She seems to have a knack for creating the extraordinary from the ordianary. You will also see links to her sister's site: C Jane... she and her husband have taken in all 4 of the Nielson's children during this recovery time. Obviously, as an aunt who loves her nieces very much and can identify with Jane, I know that she wouldn't have it any other way, but it still is an incredible act of love and support and heartwarming to see.

If you have some time, you should check out their site. They still are in need of prayers, thoughts, good wishes sent out to the universe-whatever it is that you do when you need hope or change- sent out to them during their continued recovery. Some will view their recovery as belief in miracles and the power of prayer, others as the power of community...however it happened, it was from people coming together for a cause greater than themselves and something positive always comes from that!

Happy weekend to everyone... Little Bob is home with a cold and I feel something coming on too. Why is it that you always get sick right when it is time for vacation? We also are supposed to get an extreme blast of wintery weather this weekend. Good time to hunker down, drink cocoa and watch Christmas movies!
